Thus cried nearly 400 women heirs on November 27th 2008 during their protest before Parliament.
Nothing could stop them— not poverty, not old age, not illness, not even the impediments with which the authorities tried to obstruct them— from protesting the tragic condition lived out by the women of the collective lands in many areas of Morocco.
It has come to our attention at the Democratic Association of the Women of Morocco that the transfer of the inherited lands and the solely male enjoyment of the resulting compensation are now taking place in an atmosphere of obscurity and total secrecy among the representative body, the male beneficiaries, and the local authorities and amid violations of the requirements of the Ministry of the Interior detailed in Circular No. 51 of May 2004 regulating the procedures of the transfer of the collective lands.
