Le centre Nejma fête ses 10 ans. Pour l’Association Démocratique des Femmes du Maroc-ADFM, cet anniversaire est également un moment de rétrospective et de bilan. Lorsqu’il a été crée en 1997 par l’ADFM, le centre de formation, d’information, d’orientation et d’assistance juridique, appelé, un peu plus tard le centre Nejma, traitait la question des violences d’une façon générale, notamment celles domestiques et sexuelles qui étaient des sujets tabous au plan social et politique.

  Moroccan Justice acquitted an accused who has raped a pregnant woman
The Court of Appeal in Salé acquitted, on April 30, 2008 a man who raped a married woman, pregnant and mother of two children. The woman was the victim of rape at the Avicenne hospital on September 13 by Mr. T. S, an official at the same hospital, while she was having a scan.  

  The 10th anniversary of the Nejma centre
The Nejma centre celebrates its 10 years. For The Democratic Association of Women of Morocco (ADFM), this event is an anniversary as well as an occasion to assess the situation and to do a retrospective.

On October 29, 2008, the Democratic Association of the Women of Morocco hosted the honorable guest Antigoni Papadopoulos who serves her country as a Member of the House of Representatives of Cyprus in addition to her role as a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.  

  The Family Code, 5 Years Later
The reform of the Family Code in 2004, at the king’s decision, has stirred up a number of polemics, as the new Code, in comparison with the old Mudawwana, gives women greater autonomy. Still today this reform has few followers and even as mentalities begin to change in Morocco, numerous opponents of women’s emancipation are making themselves known, including to the rather conservative magistrates in the kingdom.  

  The 100th Anniversary March 8, 1910 – 2010:A day that maintains all its significance
One hundred years after March 8th was proclaimed International Women’s Day, the day remains a symbol for women all over the world, of all different nationalities, ethnicities, religions and ages. United through their struggles for a dignified life without violence or discrimination, millions of women around the world have seen their lives change for the better. Others continue to hope that March 8th will bring them peace and security, access to education, health services, and a recognition of their rights.  

  Urgent Appeal for Pakistan Flood Relief Funds WLP Partner Aurat Foundation’s Motherland Flood Relief Campaign for women, children, and the elderly.
WLP’s partner in Pakistan, the Aurat Foundation, has launched a nation-wide flood relief campaign to meet the urgent needs of women, children, and the elderly. We need your help to provide critical supplies to the flood’s most vulnerable victims.  

  The Moroccan Authorities dishonoured
The Moroccan authorities have refused entry to the well-known human rights defender and President of the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Network – EMHRN - Kamel Jendoubi. There has been given no official explanation for the entry ban. Kamel Jendoubi has French and Tunisian nationality, and it is believed that the Moroccan government has given in to a request from the Tunisian regime.

It is with great satisfaction that we learned, at the Democratic Association of Moroccan Women and the Forum for Alternatives Morocco, the decision of the Ministry of Interior on October 24, 2010 to recognize, hence forth, the right of women to enjoy the compensation related to collective lands transfers throughout Morocco and on an equal footing with men.
